This is one series of work in my thesis presentation at the Rhode Island School of Design. More pieces coming soon.

All designs programed on Pointcarre and woven on ITEMA/STAUBLI R9500(2) Jacquard Loom

Each piece is created from a gouache painting of a path through the woods in winter, where the trees cast shadows over the footstep of those who travelled upon them. I brought this painting into each season.

The adapted 5 weft waffle structures and careful hand striping create shifting colors throughout the surface of the tapestry that reflect the space, and create luminosity from within.  The tapestries are hung on custom wooden curves to allow light to pool in the piece.
